What is required of an RTO?  

An organisation wishing to be an RTO must:

  • comply with the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Registration ;
  • comply with relevant state and commonwealth legislation;
  • comply with policies and guidelines approved by the Training Accreditation Council;
  • stay informed with what is happening in training at a state and national level through websites including:
    TAC , DEEWR, Department of Training and Workforce Development and Training.com
  • notify TAC of any change of RTO details to its operations including commencing delivery interstate/overseas, change of ownership or primary contact, financial difficulty, contact details, scope of registration;
  • undergo audits to ensure ongoing compliance;
  • engage in ongoing professional development;
  • apply to TAC for renewal of registration 4 months prior to expiry;
  • make available statistical data as required such as Quality Indicator data, AVETMISS compliant data and Client Qualification Register (CQR) data; and
  • notify TAC of its intention to cease operations as an RTO.

 

What are the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Registration?

The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) is the national set of conditions and standards which assures nationally consistent, high quality training and assessmet services for the clients of Australia's vocational education and training (VET) system.

When first applying for registration, an applicant must comply with the Essential Conditions and Standards for Initial Registration. Once registered, the RTO must comply with the Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration.
