Endorsement of the new Training and Assessment Training Package for TAC Registered RTOs

Endorsement of the new Training and Assessment Training Package for TAC Registered RTOs

The Council welcomes the decision of the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) to endorse the new Training and Education (TAE) Training Package which includes a newly approved Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. The new Cert IV qualification is the foundation for the effective and efficient delivery and assessment of all VET qualifications and without a robust and relevant TAE qualification, all VET training and assessment is at risk.

The Council takes very seriously its regulatory obligations and, at times, imposes more stringent requirements upon its RTOs. Consequently, all RTOs registered with the Council that make application to deliver the new Cert IV qualification will be required to undergo an audit against the Standards for RTOs 2015.  A robust approach to audit of the qualification will be taken by the TAC including evaluation of previous performance in delivery of the TAE40110, to determine suitability of the organisation to deliver the new qualification.

TAE40110 vs New Cert IV qualification

  • Significant changes result in the TAE40110 Cert IV in Training and Assessment being deemed not equivalent to the new Cert IV in Training and Assessment. The units of competency TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills and TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools have been changed from electives to core units, changing the Certificate IV make-up from 7 core and 3 electives now to 9 core and 1 elective unit.
  • RTOs that are currently delivering the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will not automatically have the new qualification added to their scope of registration.

The Training Package is now available on Training.gov.au and provides all details of changes to the qualification. The communique from the AISC in relation to the Training Package endorsement is provided for your information on the Australian Industry and Skills Committee's website.
