A training package is a set of nationally endorsed qualifications and units of competency designed for a specific industry, industry sector or enterprise. Training packages specify the skills and knowledge that individuals need to have for specific jobs in the industry.
The packages are the key resource for RTOs for the delivery of nationally recognised training, and for the assessment and recognition of people's skills.
The official National Register on VET in Australia is published online at training.gov.au and is the authoritative source of information on training packages,
qualifications, accredited courses, units of competency, skill sets and
registered training organisations.
Training packages are developed by Skills Service Organisations (SSOs). SSOs have the two key roles of:
• providing accurate industry intelligence to the Vocational Education and Training sector about current and future skill needs and training requirements, including through industry skills reports
• supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of quality nationally recognised training products and services, including Training Packages.
