New Standards for Course Accreditation |
|
The Training Accreditation Council (the Council) accredits courses to meet training needs not addressed in training packages. Through its accreditation function, the Council is able to accredit locally developed courses driven by local needs, in a timely manner. This includes accrediting courses that meet new industry requirements and State Government priorities such as employment and training initiatives. Accredited courses meet national course design standards and following a review of existing standards, Skills Ministers’ endorsed the
AQTF2021 Standards for Accredited Courses in December 2020. Course developers and owners are advised that following an amendment to the
Vocational Education and Training (General) Regulations 2009, the commencement date for the new standards for course accreditation with the Council came into effect on 10 September 2021, replacing the AQTF2007 Standards for Accredited Courses. Changes to the standards include:
- the addition of monitoring and evaluation processes;
- alignment of assessment and unit of competency requirements;
- updating the course document and unit of competency template; and
- updating outdated references and aligning definitions.
These changes do not impact on courses already accredited by the Council.
Applications submitted after 10 September 2021 must meet the
AQTF2021 Standards for Accredited Courses. Application forms and templates aligning to the new Standards are available on the Council’s
website. Course developers with upcoming course applications are invited to contact the TAC Secretariat should you have any queries regarding your application – phone 9224 6510 or email
tac@dtwd.wa.gov.au. The Council’s next course accreditation webinar -
The Course Accreditation Process - is
open for registration and is scheduled on 21 September 2021. |
