COVID-19 impact on TAC audit and education program schedule

The Training Accreditation Council acknowledges the widespread concern regarding COVID-19 and the challenges this health issue poses for the work of the TAC Secretariat, TAC Auditors and workshop presenters, RTOs and students.  

In this context, interim arrangements for audits and education program events are detailed below:


RTO Audits

To ensure risk to RTO staff and TAC auditors is minimised and reduce the current pressure being experienced by RTOs, please be advised the following regarding conduct of audits effective immediately:

  • All planned monitoring audits including Compliance Monitoring, Complaints and Within 24 Months audits will be postponed until further notice.
  • Scheduled site audits for renewals and amendments will be amended to a hybrid desk audit arrangement. For these audits, the audits will be conducted via desktop, with Auditors’ engagement with the RTO via, for example, phone, Skype, WhatsApp, FaceTime. Auditors may also request additional evidence be submitted for review.
  • The Council Secretariat will be in contact with RTOs directly where you may be affected.
  • As per the current process all new applications will be risk assessed to determine whether a hybrid desk, desk or no audit is required.


TAC Education Program

All TAC Education Program face to face workshops will be offered as online webinar sessions. Participants who have already registered to attend these workshops in person will be contacted and offered the opportunity to attend the webinar in its place. TAC secretariat staff will be in contact with registered participants over the next few days to discuss this arrangement.

Unfortunately all regional workshops will be deferred for the foreseeable future – in the meantime, regional RTOs are encouraged to register for alternate webinars listed in the program.

As the impacts of COVID-19 may take many forms for different RTOs, where a provider is impacted the TAC secretariat will continue to advise RTOs during this time. The Council recommends RTOs contact the TAC Secretariat on (08) 9224 6510 to discuss their concerns.
