TAC Special Bulletin - New Standards for VET Regulation

TAC Special Bulletin - New Standards for VET Regulation

Announcement - New Standards for VET Regulation

As part of the national VET reform agenda, on Monday 20 October 2014, new Standards for RTOs and VET Regulators were signed by the Commonwealth Minister for Industry.  This follows the 26 September 2014 meeting of the COAG Industry and Skills Council, where the introduction of the new Standards from 1 January 2015 was approved.  The new Standards are:

·         Standards for VET Regulators 2015

·         Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015

These Standards have been designed to better recognise the different level of risk posed by different providers, and to better align with plans to remove unnecessary regulation and red tape.

The Training Accreditation Council (TAC) recognises that training providers will need time to develop systems to support the new requirements and have therefore decided that the transition date to the new Standards will be 1 April 2015 for both prospective and existing RTOs regulated by TAC.

RTOs will be provided with information to guide them through the process of transition to the new Standards, including information sessions and the publication of a Users’ Guide.

The new Standards can be accessed on the Commonwealth’s Department of Industry VET Reform website or through the following link.

Should you wish to discuss any aspect of the new Standards further, you are encouraged to contact the TAC Secretariat.
