TAC Special Bulletin - Notification of Changes to Course Accreditation Arrangements August 2014

Changes to Course Accreditation Arrangements Commencing 1 August 2014

The following changes apply to course accreditation applications received by TAC on or after 1 August 2014.

Five Year Accreditation

The Training Accreditation Council (TAC) has endorsed a new policy for the accreditation of courses. From 1 August 2014, VET courses approved for accreditation by TAC will be granted accreditation for five years, unless special circumstances warrant a lesser accreditation duration.

New Fees for Course Accreditation

Effective 1 August 2014 application fees for course accreditation are as follows:

Accreditation/Reaccreditation of a VET course         $8,070.00 (excludes GST)

Includes:

  • courses at AQF level 1 (Certificate 1) and above
  • short courses below AQF Level 1 (Course In…)

Amendment to an accredited VET course                    $2,290.00 (excludes GST)

Revised ACC1 Application for Accreditation/Reaccreditation Form

From 1 August 2014, course owners applying to accredit a course will no longer be required to complete a Course Concept Proposal (CCP).  Information previously submitted in the CCP has been incorporated into a revised ACC1 Application for Accreditation/Reaccreditation Form, which now comprises two parts:

Part 1: Information about development/review of the course

Part 2: Course specification

The revised ACC1 Application for Accreditation/Reaccreditation Form is available on the TAC website.

New Amendment Process for Accredited Courses

Commencing 1 August 2014, processing of applications for amendments to accredited courses will change. Where the amendments involve updates to imported units from training packages that are deemed equivalent, the amendments will be processed without an application fee. All other amendment applications will be audited to ensure continued compliance with the Standards for Accredited Courses, and will be subject to an application fee.

A revised ACC2 Amendment to Course Accreditation application form and a flowchart explaining the new process are available on the TAC website.

Applicants are encouraged to submit all course accreditation applications via email to taccourseaccreditation@des.wa.gov.au
