Strategic review into the delivery of community services qualifications in Western Australia

The Training Accreditation Council’s risk management approach to regulation is to consider the risks to the quality of vocational education and training outcomes on an ongoing basis. Underpinned by the Council’s Risk Framework, stakeholders are informed about the Council’s regulatory focus areas via its Regulatory Strategy.

The Council’s 2019-2021 Regulatory Strategy identifies community services qualifications as an area of focus and indicates that the Council will monitor compliance in training products linked to aged care, home and community care and disability support.

Issues that have come to the attention of the Council include: the quality of training and assessment, including online practices; implementation of mandatory work placements; amount of training; and industry currency of trainers and assessors.

The Community Services Strategic Review will focus on the following qualifications:

  • CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support
  • CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services
  • CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
  • CHC43115 Certificate IV Disability

Planning for the audits has commenced. TAC RTOs selected to participate in the strategic review will be contacted shortly.
