Welcome to The Training Accreditation Council website.
Increase in TAC Registration Fees
Fees for registered training organisations will increase from 1 July 2014. The new schedule of fees, applicable to applications received from 1 July 2014, is available here.
The method of calculation for Registration, Amendment to Registration and Annual Fees will not change significantly, and remains based on the scale and scope of a provider’s operations. For this reason, RTOs are encouraged to review their current scope of delivery to ensure that fees are not charged for qualifications that have expired or that the RTO no longer wishes to deliver. In some instances this will result in a reduction of fees payable and ensure that the information held on the national database training.gov.au is a true reflection of the RTO’s operations.
RTOs that wish to remove qualifications from scope can submit an amendment to scope application via RTONet https://stars.dtwd.wa.gov.au.
2014 WA Training Awards
The Council is supporting the 2014 WA Training Awards, by sponsoring the WA Trainer of the Year category.
The Awards recognise and reward individuals and organisations that have excelled in vocational education and training – from apprentices, trainees and vocational students, to training professionals, training providers and employers committed to the training and development of their staff.
There are a number of award categories and people and organisations from across Western Australia and from all areas of training are encouraged to nominate for the Awards.
The Council is proud to support the WA Trainer of the Year category and encourages all RTOs to promote the awareness of the Awards within their organisations and colleagues within the vocational education and training sector.
For more information or to register your interest, go online to http://www.dtwd.wa.gov.au/trainingawards or contact (08) 6551 5609.
Nominations close on Friday May 9, 2014 and the Awards will be announced at a presentation ceremony in Perth on 11 September 2014.
The 2014 WA Training Awards are coordinated by the Department of Training and Workforce Development and the State Training Board.
Compliance Monitoring Audits
Under the updated VET Regulations, a new category of audit has been introduced which allows for the monitoring of ongoing compliance with the requirements of registration as a result of the outcomes of previous audits. This new category of audit is referred to as a Compliance Monitoring Audit (CMA) and will come into effect from 1 May 2014. Further information regarding the criteria for a CMA and costs involved is available below:
Adoption of National Guidelines
The Vocational Education and Training (General) Regulations 2009 have been updated to enable consistency with the National VET Regulator for the regulation of the VET in Western Australia. The amended regulations take effect from 1 January 2014 requiring the Training Accreditation Council (the Council) to comply with the Standards for VET Regulators 2011.
On 13 February 2014, the Council adopted the AQTF National Guidelines for a Registering Body as the Council’s established guidelines underpinning its operations as a registering body, ensuring compliance with the Standards for VET Regulators 2011.

Strategic Industry Audit of Aged Care and Home and Community Care qualifications in Western Australia
The Training Accreditation Council conducted a Strategic Industry Audit (SIA) of Aged Care and Home and Community Care qualifications during 2012-2013 and has formally endorsed the report of the Stage 1 findings. The report identifies a number of key areas of compliance and non-compliance with the AQTF Standards and provides recommendations to improve the quality of training and assessment in this industry area.
